New oil refinery prospects excites Ndola City Council

The City of Ndola was yesterday elated to have welcomed a team of Russian Investors who will be setting up a Hi-tech oil refinery plant, as well as an oil pipeline alongside the TAZAMA in Ndola.

The team of Investors who were led by Yury Gross paid a courtesy call on Ndola City Council after successive meetings with the Industrial Development Cooperation in Lusaka announced that the construction would commence in six months.

The project which is estimated to cost 2.5 billion dollars for the plant and 1.5 billion dollars for the pipe line will be constructed in five years and is expected to completely change the face of Ndola.

And meeting Ndola City Council, team leader Yury Gross said the project at construction will create at least a total of 4,000 jobs.

Gross further noted that priority labour both skilled and unskilled would be given to Zambians adding that the company would not only comply to the 20 percent engagement of Local Contractors but is looking at a 30 percent engagement.

“We are hoping to use local material from local industry and local man power,” said Gross.

This is according to a statement released by NNC spokesperson Tilyenji Mwanza.
