Nevers Mumba’s Remarks on UPND at the Mutomboko Ceremony

Allow me space in your publication to air my views on what I feel is Nevers Mumba’s unwarranted attacks on the UPND and its leadership by alleging that the party is regional.

As a “Man of God” pastor Mumba must know that he is mandated by his “calling” to preach peace and unity despite him being a political party leader.

Instead of him sowing seeds of discord and preaching divisive sermons, pastor Mumba must work hard to unite his party the MMD and reconcile his party membership and top leadership that has undoubtedly lost confidence in him because of his leadership style that has no direction and has “murdered” the former ruling party.

If Nevers Mumba went to Mutomboko Ceremony to take audit of who was absent then his fault finding leadership can be countered by those of us that are forced to have an eagle’s eye to critically look at the National leaders that do not go to major events taking place around the country and not only in Northern, Luapula & Muchinga provinces where Mumba thinks it is mandatory for UPND leadership to go to.

I was attending the 8th graduation ceremony at Rusangu University on Sunday 27th July, 2014 where the university had more than 600 students graduating in various disciplines.

Dr. Maureen Mwanawasa officiated at this colorful ceremony that was attended by many traditional leaders from southern province and other local and foreign dignatories.

Nevers Mumba may wish to know that Rusangu university also had a lot of graduating students from some of our neighboring countries like Botswana and Lesotho.

As we all know, the pursuit of knowledge and education is what has driven great nations in the world and as Thomas Jefferson wrote : “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never shall be”.

Having said this, will I be correct in Nevers Mumba’s mind to state that the PF, MMD, president Sata, Guy Scott, Education minister Dr. Phir and indeed Mumba himself did not attend the graduation ceremony because Rusangu university is situated in southern province and Monze in particular where the UPND leader comes from?

Of course it will be irrational for anyone to insinuate that.

My advise to Nevers Mumba is that instead of his unwarranted attacks on the UPND and its leadership, let him put his brain in gear before he opens his mouth and work towards redeeming the diminishing fortunes of the former ruling party that he has sent into oblivion.
