NAREP accuse MMD of malpractic​e in Mkaika campaigns

The opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) has accused fellow opposition party, the Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) of involving in malpractice in the  campaigns for the Mkaika parliamentary by election, in Katete District, Eastern Province.
NAREP National Secretary, Javan Kamanga said the MMD is distributing mealie meal to electorates.
Reverend Kamanga said the former ruling party is bribing the voters which is contrary to the laws. He has asked the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to act against the prevailing situation in Katete district.
According to the electoral act it is illegal and unlawful for political parties and candidates to distribute things apart from campaign materials during campaigns.
Rev. Kamanga said this on Thursday August 29,2013.

But MMD President Nevers Mumba has dispelled the allegations saying the party is only distributing the mealie meal to its campaign team in the constituency.
Dr. Mumba said the party has deployed foot soldiers in the constituency who it is supplying food.

The Mkaika by elections are scheduled for September 5,2013
