Margrate MwanakatweCommerce Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe (at the PF Secretariat) has applied to contest the Lusaka central constituency seat. She joins many candidates who have applied to be considered for the seat.

Mwananakatwe, a former Barclays Bank Managing Director, was nominated as Member of Parliament and appointed Minister by President Edgar Lungu last year. She is a new entrant in politics.

The filing of applications for candidates to be considered for adoption by the Patriotic Front as Members of Parliament in the forthcoming August 2016 General Elections has been extended to Tuesday 8th March 2016.

PF Secretary General Davies Chama earlier issued regulations and calendar for all aspirants to follow.

President Edgar Lungu was elected at the 2014 General Conference and was later adopted by the Central Committee as the PF Presidential Candidate for the 2016 General Elections.

Members of the Central Committee aspiring to stand as Members of Parliament will not be interviewed by lower structures.

The party has congratulated all aspirants that have filed successfully across the country.

The process now moves to the Constituency, District and Provincial Committees to do the selections in the coming weeks.

    • Your hate speech will bring you shame just like Guy Scott was put to shame. Go to South Africa where you will see that due to the worst drought in 30 years, they are now rationing water, not to talk of electricity. In Tanzania animals are dying due to drought. In the southern region Zambia is relatively better off because there are some rains in some provinces which will supply to worst hit areas.
To turn around the economy you need good infrastructure such as roads, electric-power base, schools, hospitals and good investment potential which the current govt has labored to put in place. Go into every part of this vast land you will see development in all the districts.

      • @Chaona you are such an imbecile who has forgotten that the technology you are using right now and the language you are using to write never came from “real Zambians”.

  7. Follow this closely as soon PF will be obsessed with demands that UPND discloses who their nominees are as if it is mandatory to do so just because PF has begun with its nominations!

  9. The sad part is that Hon. Mwanakatwe has held positions which should have been highly paying but those reports of not paying back loans make sad reading. How sound is her financial standing and what exactly is the motive to want to be a Minister whose salary she could’ve paid several times over in her previous jobs? Quite interesting really.

  10. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could
do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of
that, this is magnificent blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
