Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe has distanced herself from an article doing the rounds on social media in which she is alleged to have uttered derogatory remarks against late President Michael Sata.

The article attributed to Mwanakatwe accuses Sata of mismanaging the economy and plunging the country into debt while absolving current President Edgar Lungu of any blame.

She has since appealed to the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) to trace the origin of the article.

Meanwhile, Mwanakatwe has disclosed that the Ministry of Finance will in the next few weeks be conducting final budget consultations with ministries, provinces and spending agencies.

She adds that in the next few days her Ministry will be conducting revenue verifications and expenditure estimates for 2019.
