Mutanzi Middle Basic School in Monze District Southern Province has been flooded due to excessive rains.
However, the Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has cautioned people in Monze and Mazabuka Districts of Southern Province to be alert of possible floods.
WARMA Public Relations Officer, Mubiana Nalwendo, said their flood monitoring system as of 26th January, 2023 shows a likelihood of severe flooding on the Magoye and Kasaka river systems.
He said that Magoye River in Mazabuka is currently showing a trigger of severe flood which is likely to reach the peak on 30th January, 2023.
Nalwendo said the system shows that the flood will begin on 26th January, 2023 and will gradually intensify in severity up to the 30th of the same month.
He says settlements around areas such as Mwanampongo village and are likely to be affected by these floods.
