Musicians turn to alternative sources of income, amid COVID-19 disaster

Musical artists in Monze district of Southern Province are afraid the continued spread of the Covid-19 pandemic threatens their livelihoods due to loss of income from against social gatherings.

Joe Chilomo otherwise known as Crazy Boy says the show business has been disturbed since the onset of the virus last year.

He laments the loss of income for artists, observing that there hasn’t been any show hosted since the beginning of the year in the district.

Chilomo says he has only been able to support his family through running small businesses, which he encourages other artists to pursue.

Meanwhile, Dinda Band leader, Stanley Dinda has implored the arts community to diversify their income sources.

He says his band is doubling as a construction company, allowing members to support their families.

Dinda laments the challenges artists are facing in earning income, however, saying one has to be innovative to survive. -Byta FM
