Muntanga buried: He should have been in my Cabinet – HH

The late Kalomo Parliamentarian Request Muntanga has been buried at his farm, in Mukwela.

And UPND president Hakainde Hichilema told mourners that  Muntanga could have been in his cabinet even if he didn’t recontest as Member of Parliament.

The long burial procession which started with a Church service at 10am ended at 5pm.

The confin was lowered at 3pm and the burial procession was attended by hundreds of Kalomo Residents many who could not manage to view the body of their late MP.

Speaking before the burial, Hichilema revealed that Muntanga could have been in his cabinet even if he did not recontest as MP. He said Muntanga had done a lot for the  UPND.

HH  recounted moments he and Muntanga had been persecuted by the  PF regime. He cited the Livingstone by-election where they were detained among other incidences.

Hichilema who is commonly known as HH said Muntanga was a selfless leader who put his people first.

He urged political leaders to emulate his selfless and courageous leadership.

Earlier MMD president Nevers Mumba likened Muntanga to Moses of the Bible who died just before reaching the promise land, Canani.

Dr Mumba said it is sad that Muntanga has died just 30 days before UPND forms government. He said the party should work hard to see to it that Muntanga’s wish to have his party win the election is realised on August 11.
