MultiChoice Zambia is celebrating its Silver Jubilee with the launch of the Mwatipanga! campaign to mark 25 years of enriching Zambian lives.

With Mwatipanga! MultiChoice will recognise the collective efforts of Zambians who made the business what it is today.

This incredible journey began when MultiChoice Zambia joined forces with the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) 25 years ago.

In line with the national economic growth agenda, this successful Private Public Partnership (PPP) has been the springboard for MultiChoice Zambia’s socio-economic contribution.

As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognize that a strong partnership is a necessity between government and the private sector towards national development.

Through its business operations, investments in technology, local infrastructure, CSI initiatives as well as local partnerships, MultiChoice has enriched millions of lives across Zambia in the past 25 years.

As Zambia’s most-loved storyteller, MultiChoice has been a much-loved part of society, a friend who brings the family together to share precious moments and unforgettable memories.

MultiChoice introduced pay-TV to Zambia 25 years ago with its Digital Satellite Television (DStv) service, enabling high-quality transmission of multiple entertainment channels and services to customers across the country.

With cutting-edge technology in its DNA, the DStv Now service was introduced in 2015, allowing DStv customers to enjoy their favourite content anytime, anywhere via the DStv Now app on their mobile devices i.e. phones, laptops and tablets.

Another key milestone in the digital revolution was the introduction of affordable family entertainment via the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service, GOtv, in 2011.

In line with efforts towards the delivery of public infrastructure, GOtv set up transmission sites across the country and the first site was commissioned on 20th May 2011.

MultiChoice Zambia has grown together with Zambia’s economy and provides great opportunities for local employees in a dynamic and vibrant environment across a national footprint spanning four branches, 58 agencies, 205 accredited installers and over 700 touch points.

In line with the National Film Policy introduced by the Zambian government, MultiChoice has been instrumental in the development of original programming.

In the five years since Zambezi Magic’s launched, over 20 Zambian production houses have worked with the channel, clocking more than 1,200 hours with locally produced shows like Zuba, Mpali, Shimumbi, Tuvwange and Majimbo.

Furthermore, Africa’s premier sports broadcaster, SuperSport, has invested in license fees to FAZ since 2012, sponsoring and covering Zambia Super League matches live on SuperSport.

Playing a fundamental role in helping to build Zambia’s football community, these broadcasts enabled clubs to generate sponsorships and ticket sales while supporting careers in the sports field and creating funding for sports development.

Another way the business supports the growth of the film industry in Zambia is through the MultiChoice Talent Factory. This flagship corporate social investment initiative inspires and nurtures talented young people to work in local creative industries and generate a pipeline of local content.

After 25 years, MultiChoice Zambia remains committed to putting our customers at the heart of everything we do. The business is passionate about customer experience and delivering exceptional service at every point of interaction.

Our very existence is due to the loyalty of our valued customers, and our commitment is to ensure they continue to enjoy the very best television experience in Zambia with the best content, the best technology and the best customer experience.

On behalf of the entire MultiChoice family, I would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing support during the past 25 years.

Build, create and grow – are the ideals guiding our efforts now as we continue enriching the lives of Zambians even further through rich Zambian and African storytelling, powerful social upliftment and strong economic development.

All these achievements could not have been possible without our people, partners and loyal customers who have supported MultiChoice Zambia along the way. Thank you, Zambia!
