Mufulira District Hospital ‘on course’

Let me take this opportunity to announce to the nation that the first ultra modern referral Hospital in Mufulira is on course as the contractors building the health institution have moved on site clearing the land.

Mufulira is moving miles ahead in terms of health development because the Hospital once completed it will cater for the rising population of the mining and border town which has only two Hospitals namely Kamuchanga and Ronald Ross respectively.

Am proud to say that my Government is working twenty -four hours a day in order to deliver good health services to the people because a healthy citizenry is meaningful to society.

The District Hospital located in Kamuchanga Township will be constructed by Mercury Lines Limited,  will gobble Thirteen Million Kwacha and it will be completed in March 2016.

The first phase of construction will house the out Patient Department (OPD) the administration block and other  infrastructure needed at a health Institution whilst the second phase will have a  state of   the art Laboratory and a modern operation theatre room.

During the construction stage more than 100 jobs will be created for the local people because the contractor is determined to empower the youths of Mufulira both the skilled and the unskilled ones by engaging them.

For over a period of Fifty years Mufulira has never had a referral Hospital hence  serious health cases were referred to Ndola central Hospital, Kitwe Central Hospital and the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka  but now this will be the thing of the past because once the Hospital is in  full operational it will handle critical  health  related issues.

The Hospital will not only serve the residents of Mufulira   it will also cater for the people of the nearby towns such as Chingola, Chililabombwe , Kalulushi,  the Industrious Mining township of Chambishi and the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The PF Government is a working Government ready to bring health services closer to the door steps of the people nationwide.

Health matters are important to the development of Zambia because the foundation of any nation is built on the well being of the health sector which enhances the living standards of the people at all levels.

As the District Commissioner of Mufulira am confident to say that since the PF came into power it has seriously invested in the health sector in all corners of the country because my Government is in a hurry to move Zambia forward.

The project was supposed to kick start after the successful ground breaking ceremony done by the Deputy Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya  in December last year   but the contractor Mercury lines Ltd had sent its workforce on a Christmas break.

The Government is on track building health facilities of international standards in the nation to encourage the health practitioners in Zambia not to go for greener pastures abroad because other people from different countries need to come to our nation to sample our health institutions.

Warm Regards Colleagues, GOD Be with you always and work well.
