MTN FAZ Super League Round Up

There were four matches played on Saurday in the MTN FAZ Super League in week 17 following the postponement of three other matches and the rescheduling to Sunday of the match between Kabwe Warriors and Power Dynamos.

In total, six goals were scored of which two were home wins while the other two finished as draws.

Lime Hotspurs 2 – 1 Kalulushi Modern Stars

Two second half goals scored by Brian Chilando and Monga Chilimba helped to lift Lime Hotspurs off the bottom of the MTN FAZ Super League standings after they defeated Kalulushi Modern Stars in a week 17 fixture played at Trade Fair Ground.

Angel Kalunga equalised for Kalulushi ten minutes from time after Chilando put the home side in the lead on 57 minutes only for Monga Chilimba to win the match at the death with what was the last kick of the game.

The result means Lime Hotspurs move into 15th position on the standings with ten points, one clear of bottom place Forest Rangers who have a game in hand.

Zanaco 1 – 1 Roan United

Reigning champions Zanaco came from behind to salvage a point at home to their bogey team Roan United.

Floyd Phiri put the visitors in front at the stroke of half time while Zanaco equalised in the 72nd minute through Davies Mwape who had earlier been denied twice by the woodwork.

The result means Zanaco and Roan United have leapfrogged Red Arrows into fifth and sixth place respectively with 25 points from 16 matches. Red Arrows have three games in hand and lie in seveth position with 24 points from 14 matches.

Konkola Mine Police 1 – 0 Green Buffaloes

Konkola Mine Police remained in the relegation zone despite recording a 1 – 0 win at home to Green Buffaloes.

Mushili Chanda scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute after some good work from Chileya Chipulu who provided the assist.

The result means Police are level on 20 points with Kabwe Warriors, Power Dynamos and Nkwazi but they have played a game more than the other three teams. The loss means Buffaloes drop into fourth position on goal difference from third placed Nchanga Rangers who have played a game less.

NAPSA Stars 0 – 0 Konkola Blades

Napsa Stars were held to a goalless draw at home to Konkola Blades in a midday fixture played at Sunset Stadium.

Both sides had chances to claim all three points but for profligacy and some brilliant stops made by both goal keepers the match ended goalless.

Konkola Blades remain in 8th position on the standings with 23 points while NAPSA Stars also maintain 9th position with only a point adrift. / Courtesy of FAZ
