Army commander and presidential son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has oldered female soldiers to swap their trousers for skirts during parades, claiming trousers are “for men.”

He says in the tweet that if someone forces women to wear trousers, then they will have a very bad day.

TRT Afrika reports that in a string of provocative social media posts, the outspoken general also warned that citizens who refuse to back his father, President Yoweri Mseveni, in the upcoming elections will face public deportation.

His remarks have drawn criticism from rights groups and opposition leaders, who see them as signs of intensifying repression ahead of the country’s tense January polls.

Soldier women in men countries including Zambia wear trousers on parades to allow greater freedom of movement, which is essential for military duties.
