Political Analyst Neo Simutanyi has charged that the recent suspension of 17 Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Assembly is not meant to instill discipline but targeted at frustrating the opposition.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Dr Simutanyi is of the view that the suspension of the 17 lawmakers has also been necessitated by intentions by the Members of Parliament to impeach the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Dr. Simutanyi is also concerned that the suspension of the MPs will disturb Parliament business while many constituencies will not be represented in the house and debates will lack objectivity.

Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti on Tuesday this week suspended Kamfinsa Member of Parliament Christopher Kang’ombe and 16 other opposition parliamentarians for 30 days, for gross disorderly conduct.
