Up-coming Copperbelt musician K-Leb will have his dream come true when he performs alongside the country’s top artists at the Mosi Day of Thunder in Livingstone on Saturday, April 20.

The future is bright for the singer, songwriter and vocalist, whose passion is to tell his story through a range of musical genres including pop, electronic dance music, Afro, classical jazz, blues and spirituals.

He was crowned winner of Zambian Breweries’ Thunder Beats music contest, which scoured the country in search of fresh talent to perform at the Mosi Day of Thunder.

K-Leb, real name Caleb Mwewa, won the Mosi music competition with more than 4,000 votes, beating Saxsa Khai (Mwaba Moono) in second place and Matured Level brothers Elisha Mwambinga and Samuel Kalokela in third place.

The three top contestants gave their final performances at the Gymkhana Club in Lusaka’s Showgrounds alongside Zambia’s top performer Slapdee and celebrity judges Mampi, Cleo Ice Queen and Jay Rox, who helped them rise to fame in the music scene.

Zambian Breweries Country Director Jose Moran said: “I am very happy for the winner K-Leb and all the contestants who participated in the first ever Mosi Thunder Beats music campaign. Zambian Breweries is proud to present an opportunity like this to tap into local raw talent.”

“We are happy to know that Thunder Beats is making dreams come true and Zambian Breweries will continue to build upon this to make season two. It is a great initiative and we want our local talent to become export material.”

K-Leb said: “It was a great experience for me. Interacting with wonderful and talented musicians has helped me build my musicality. Thanks to ba Kopala (Copperbelt) and Zambia at large for the support and voting for me to win the first ever Thunder Beats.”

K-Leb’s family and friends from the Copperbelt were at the finale to support and give him the motivation to win.

Mosi Thunder Beats brings K-Leb’s potential to another level through mentorship, talent and skill sharpening, networking and creating a bigger following online.

Afrobeat queen Yemi Alade will headline this year’s Mosi Day of Thunder, joining an eminent line-up of local artists including Slap D, Mampi, Chef 187, Cleo, Jay Rox and, 408 Empire.
