New-look music awards brings fans closer to the action

Zambian Breweries is working on plans to refresh the Mosi Zambian Music Awards, revamping the flagship event into the Mosi Day of Thunder extravaganza of music, entertainment and culture.

The all-day Mosi Day of Thunder experience, which is expected to be held in Livingstone towards the end of April, will showcase Zambia’s best musicians and performers, while retaining the popular awards ceremony on the previous evening.

“The Mosi Day of Thunder will focus more on the performances as the focal point of the celebration, championing the amazing talent we have in this country while sharing that with as many people as possible,” said Zambian Breweries Marketing Director Thomas Kamphuis.

“The Mosi Day of Thunder will be bigger and better than ever before, and give more fans the opportunity to see their favourite stars perform live,” he added.

Details of the new-look event are still being finalised with support from the National Arts Council and details of award nominees, show line-up, how to vote and other plans for the event will be published over the coming weeks.

Inquiries from musicians and fans are already pouring in as excitement mounts for the event, which has become a highlight of the entertainment and social calendar in recent years.

Last year’s winners included Chef 187, who won four awards and Abel Chungu, capturing three accolades.
