President Edgar Lungu says he expects some more members of the ruling Patriotic Front to leave the party for the opposition UPND when Parliament is dissolved next week ahead of the elections.

Commenting on the defection of Lusaka province Minister Mulenga Sata who is also son to PF founder Michael Sata, President Lungu he will continue receiving and working with new members from other political parties in order to grow the ruling party.

President Lungu said he cannot be crucified for working with people who are joining the PF as its growth depends on the number of people it is able to attract.

Announcing his resignation on Tuesday, Mulenga Sata said the PF has been hijacked by members of the MMD. He said his father must be turning in his grave because of what has become of the PF.

But President Lungu said people are free to choose which party to belong to. He explained that the PF has grown from the time late President Michael Sata formed it, by accepting people from other political parties.

He urged PF members to go flat out and campaign so they can win the August 11 general elections.

President Lungu was a speaking on arrival at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola Wednesday morning.

The President is on a two days working visit on the Copperbelt province.

    • Most of them of good standing will leave except bene Dora Siliti, Mumbi Phiri and some stranded ones who burnt their bridges to UPND but who would want to leave like Emmanuel Mwamba, Frank Bwalya, Davies Chama, kambwili etc. Off course the ancient dinosaur of kaloba Chikwanda will remain with Edgar as he is one of the biggest beneficiaries of Edgar rule. it is just right that all credible and non credible PF ones move to UPND to help HH form government. The problem we have in Zambia is that of leadership problem at the apex. Fish rots from the head and that is why we have all this rot of corruption, mis-governance, incompetence because we have at the helm someone with zero ability. EL was just rescued fro the big jaws of poverty by Sata who gave him a chance to stand as MP and won because most MPs who stood under Sata’s PF in Lusaka and other areas won. EL didn’t win because he had what it takes to represent the people of Chawama but just because of Sata’s endorsement. This is the very reason why the Sata family has ganged up aginst him because they know that without Sata, he would have been drinking chibuku in Chawama now.

  6. Dear Zambians, I greet you all in the name of our dear loving Father who area in Heaven. I have a simple message and request for you my beloved neighbors. Please don’t make the same mistakes we inn the opposition parties in Zimbabwe have made in the past many years by voting the same party whose agenda principally has been to impoverish the population in the name of land grabbing and so called indigenousation. My prayer to you is to remove the current PF government and usher in Fresh Blood. I went to school with some of your leaders in the opposition particularly UPND and you have the greatest minds on the continent. Don’t be cheated by money mongers, you don’t repeat doing the same thing expecting a different result. You government is a failed one, don’t take our route, it only leads you to hello. God bless Zambia and God help Zimbabwe

  10. UPND and other parties have not informed voters how they will eliminate Load-shedding, bring down the US Dollar to K5, how they will step up the rate of construction works currently taking place without borrowing. What they are talking about is just to remove President Edgar Lungu. Mind you people are not foolish. President Lungu will win the election in August. Make my words, and don’t find a reason for his victory to say it is because ballot papers were printed in Dubai.

  11. I was never ever going to have a 2nd thought about change of Govt if and only if EL had conceived a grand plan that should have ended load shedding, brought down fuel price reduction of cabinet and deputy ministers, wastages. Why bring in Dora siliya and Kaingu, Frank Bwalya instead of using original PF manpower…of all things? on this one PF will have to go. By the way I hope Electoral Commission has bought adequate Standby generator sets for all polling centers.

  15. Sometimes I wonder! What makes some people think there special than others. This is a country with over 13 million people. You think there no people in the whole country to remain and run PF? Educated or not there people to continue!!! You will be shocked when results come half and a simple 1 from my vote for PF.

UPND members will start defecting to PF as the party has been taken over by PF Members.
