Suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres allegedly attacked their Patriotic Front (PF) counterparts in Ndola on Thursday.

PF information committee member  Sunday Chanda named those assaulted as  Bwanga Chibwe, Caphas Daka, and Francis Kabwe.

“PF members Bwanga Chibwe, Caphas Daka and Francis Kabwe were attacked by UPND thugs. The matter was reported at Masala Police Station,” Chanda said in statement.

Chanda said the incident happened as the PF members were putting up campaign posters in Ndola’s Kaloko area.

“Eight UPND cadres descended on them with pangas, stones and Iron bars. They were pushed back in the car and almost set ablaze but they managed to speed off to the police station” Chanda charged.

There has been series of violent incidences in recent weeks, largely between supporters of the two front-runners in the August 11 general elections. Both the church and civil society have on several occasions called for an end to politically motivated violence.

  1. The commander in chief has permitted violence in Zambia so even those non violent will now have to start defending themselves. When it involves PF being hurt cases are investigated but when its PF cases are buried becoz ECL thinks its doing him a favor without knowing that you reap what you sow.

  3. The post newspaper kept warning ECL in its editorials that the violence he was sowing was going to beget violence and this is what is obtaining in our country. The Bible also affirms that whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. The post also went on to warn that the violence ECL was sowing, if left unchecked, had the potential to escalate. ECL was of the understanding that since it was violence that made him ascend to the PF presidency, the same would assist him in holding on to power. Unfortunately, Zambians know how to say no to bad leadership when they identify one. Long live the republic, long live the people of Zambia!

  6. Dear country men

The political violence seen in this country has primarily been caused by the PF . What surprises me about most Zambians is how we tend to have a blind eye even when things are so clear. The UPND are just retaliating to the PF violent behavior. Why do I say violence is caused by PF ? Well there was no violence between UNIP and MMD . No violence between MMD and UPND when mazoka Lost. But after Sata came on the scene with “pa maka” violence has started creeping in. Secondly PF carders feel they are above everyone because their party is in power . What makes them feel so is because the President does not comment when PF carders do something wrong e.g the Ndola international airport inversion and other incidents. He only comments and condemns violence when it is UPND. The day the President will crack the WIP on PF carders is the day this violence will come to an end because he will send a strong signal to all

  10. Bwana Sunday Chanda, just keep quiet and keep that nonsense to yourself. Your fake cadres attacked the UPND cadres and unfortunately your cadres were overpowered and you want to twist the story so it can suit you. You f00l, do you know what is happening now because of the alarming situation you have caused in the country ? I’ ll also include your name on the list of those to executed at firing squad.
