Fred M’membe

Fred M’membe has reacted angrily to the arrest of his wife Mutinta and search of his residence describing President Edgar Lungu as a coward who should have known that he is out of the country.

M’membe who is the former Chief Editor for the liquidated Post Newspaper says President Lungu and his agents knew that he was out of the country but decided to raid his house.

M’membe says President Lungu is after him but that he should wait for him to come back to Zambia.

Below is M’membe’s statement:

I learnt of the arrest of my wife Mutinta and harassment of my lawyer Nchima Nchito with deep sadness. This was inhuman, unacceptable and done in bad faith. The invasion of my home in my absence was and is a cowardly and desperate act.  President Edgar Lungu and his agents ought to have known I was out of the country visiting the USA and Jamaica. The warrant to arrest me was therefore a farce. It was meant to enter, search, intimidate, harass and humiliate my family. My wife, just like any humble and respecting citizen should do, complained against this injustice. She was insulted and assaulted for defending her home. Her arrest and detention as well as the continued harassment of my lawyer is an affront against any sense of fairness and justice. It is a total abuse of the judicial process.

I will be coming back home in a few days time. Edgar Lungu and his agents should be patient enough to wait and give me the chance to answer any charges against me. The destruction and removal of my personal property in my absence is shameful. There is no piece of asset or machinery at my home that belongs to Post Newspapers Limited. My integrity in this regard is unquestionable and borne out of highly principled stand in life. Money and wealth have never been the driving forces behind my life and actions. The assets of The Post they want to steal in broad daylight were built over a period of 25 years of hard and selfless work. It is against all that I stand for to keep such assets at my home for personal use.

The liquidation of The Post is supposed to be a civil issue. The use of the police, intelligence officers and the entire state machinery, including State House, is unwarranted. It is impunity of the highest order.

Meanwhile, my children, wife and relatives residing at my home have to be left alone. The policemen and state agents should vacate my home. It is me President Edgar Lungu is after. He should have the patience to wait for a few more days.

  2. Edgar Chagwa Lungu falsely thinks he shall remain eternal president of this great republic after a broad daylight robbery of votes and an election from Hakainde Hichilema. What he fails to realize is that power has got a time frame and it shall come to an end. That is the time when Edgar Chagwa Lungu will realize that he is just a simple creation of God on this planet earth. The police, the military, the judiciary which he has raped and all those who flock around him to worship and sing false songs of praises for him as if he is a half god are not going to be there because they shall all have run away from him. Let him wait and see. Thus the English saying ”Be nice to people on your way up because you may need them on your way down”.

  3. Lungu Is not only a coward but an illegitimate President becoz he was NOT democratically, lawfully and Constitutionally elected.Lungu is a Dictator who is misusing state machinery to persecute innocent and peace loving Zambians.Lungu knew that Fred Mmembe was abroad but issued a search warrant as an excuse to harass, arrest his wife Mutinta and traumatise their children in the comfort of their home, which is neither a Post Asset nor a Mast Asset.Lungu is persecuting a Family to distract his unpopular move to pull Zambia out of ICC to serve his own personal and selfish interests. Illegitimate and Dictato Lungu needs to be indicted and caged at at ICC jails in the Hague for committing Treason, carrying out atrocities and crimes against humanity. Lungu is violating the Rights of the Mmembe Family and the sooner this illegitimate Dictator is handedover to ICC for prosecution the better for Zambia and its peace loving people.

  10. The Police went to provoke and harass Mutinta, her children and relatives for no justifiable reason.Initially the Police were tresspassing without a search warrant. The Police should be charged for tresspassing and invading a private property and disturbing the peace at that house. The state knew Fred Mmembe was not home and out of the country. Zambia under Lungu has been transformed into a Police State. Illegitimate Lungu should take his frustration elsewhere instead of harassing and persecuting peaceful Zambians. Lungu should resolve his illegitimacy and leave the Mmembe Family alone. That Family House is not Post Newspaper Property and neither is it a Mast Asset. The Liquidator has misdirected himself in this matter. The state should deal with Company management and owners but leave the Mmembe Family out of Corporate Tax Disputes.

  14. Insults will not get us anywhere Zambians.I can see hatred in all of you.
No one is an angel, and the truth shall always set someone free. The Post news paper should have paid its debts within time given to avoid offspring of the parent problem. If Lungu really stole elections, time will catch up with him.If Membe and The Post also did not follow the law, time will catch up with him.

Please let us not blame, disrespect or insult each other when the pay back time comes, let us remember that there is always time to pay back for every wrong act we are involved in.

No one is above the law,Lungu ,HH,Membe,Judges and so on will at some time pay back for every wrong they are involved in but when time comes, let us welcome it and not retaliate by insulting or disrespecting one another.

    *Truth shall set you free*
