MMD headed for victory in Kasenengwa
Opposition MMD candidate in the Kasenengwa by-election Victoria Kalima is headed for victory according results so far received, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent.
Kalima whose 2011 elections were nullified by the courts of law had polled 7, 859 votes from 37 polling stations. She was followed by PF candidate Gideon Zulu at a distant with 2, 201 votes.
Elsewhere the governing Patriotic Front (PF) was reported leading in Mkushi South while in Solwezi opposition UPND had taken an early lead.
From the two polling station, UPND’s Dawson Kafwaya polled 142 followed by MMD’s Lucky Mulusa with 27 votes, and FDD’s Nathan Mulonga had 13 votes.
PF’s Newton Malwa and UNIP’s Mary Katiki had both polled nine votes.
From three polling stations, Kafwaya polled 163 votes followed by MMD’s Mulusa with 36 votes and PF’s Malwa with 28 votes. UNIP’s Katiki had 14 votes and FDD’s Mulonga 13 votes.
No information had been received from Vubwi and Zambezi West.
