Minister and Police contradict each other over alleged violence in Sinazongwe

DAVIES-MWILA-POLICE-HOME-AFFAIRS-624x372Home Affairs Minister, Davies Mwila, has made a contradictory instruction to the Zambia police high command to arrest the people behind the attack of a woman in Sinazongwe, southern province.

Mwila says the police should move in quickly and arrest the people alleged to be behind the attacks.

But Police have refused having a record of such a case despite the alleged incident to have been recorded and the video going viral.

In the video, suspected UPND cadres adorned in their party regalia are seen lynching a lone suspected PF cadre.

However, the police have denied receiving an official report about such an incident but were quick to encourage anyone with information to come forward and report.

“Effort’s have been made and are still being made to locate the victim and place of this incident. So far Police officers have been dispatched to Southern and Western Provinces to try and locate the victim of this incident.

“We are therefore appealing to any person or persons who may know the whereabouts of this victim to report to the nearest police station so that the offenders can be brought to book. We would like to still appeal to all peace-loving Zambians to desist from engaging in violent activities. As Zambia Police Service we will sternly deal with perpetrators of violence regardless of their political affiliation.” Police said in  press release.

    • It’s better to deal with people who are alive unlike the dead. Mapenzi is dead and buried but the teacher is still alive. Moreover Mapenzi was just one of the criminals

I suspect you are just human outside but an absolute dog inside because what you write is a clear demonstration of what you are. Mafi yobe cikala, wanunka kumatako, uleishida tole lyobe.

      • @mjb. I respect the way you debate on/look at the issues differently from the way I look at the same issues. however, I find this posting a bit unfair and out of taste to the late Mapenzi (MHSRIP) and the relatives. let’s debate professionally without pushing too much deoxygenized blood through our small nerves. have a happy day

  7. ZAMBIA Railways whistleblower has exposed a scam linked to State House in which over 5,000 metric tonnes of maize was being illegally exported to Zimbabwe.

Sources involved in the scam have disclosed hat the ruling PF has been raising campaign funds through the sale of smuggled maize.

According to a government officer close to the deal, over 5,000 metric tonnes of maize was two weeks ago loaded into 146 Zambia Railways wagons with maize measuring above 12 per cent moisture content, making it not permissible for export.

“The PF has been receiving advance payments for the maize exports and they got the payment for 5,445 metric tonnes of maize to be exported to Zimbabwe,” the source revealed.

“This Zimbabwe maize export has been going on for some time and State House officials are at the centre of the scam. On every export, there is a cut that goes into individual pockets and some of it goes into party mobilisation. They get the maize at a subsidised price in Zambia and overprice it on sale in Zimbabwe. But this particular export scheme has hit a snag in Livingstone after this alert Zambia Railways employee informed us, the officer also informed the police and officers from the special branch of the Office of the President that there were 77 wagons laden with maize permissible for export at Livingstone Railway Station.”

  11. Bembas and Tongas are like Esau and Jacob. We do not know who is Esau or Jacob. In 1,000BC it was discovered the Bembas and Tongas had the same ancestor. That is why Tongas and Bembas have similar words in their languages. Lozi is totally different from Tonga, yet Bemba is close.

Tribalism is associated with shallow minds, lack of focus, championing war against a fellow brother. “I think, tribalism is a mental prison…and pride of identity coupled with arrogance is one of the leading factors that limit one’s ability to abandon it.”

Tribalism was started by late President Chiluba. He wanted to counter Anderson Mazoka’s popularity towards 2001 elections. He launched a serious propaganda campaign accusing late Mazoka of being a Manson, cattle rustler, forming a regional party. When all this failed, late President Chiluba was left with only one option, to rig the elections.

Before late Mazoka died I wrote an article in the Post Newspaper, which covered the whole page, where I condemned late President Chiluba’s evil scheme. President Chiluba was not Bemba,as you may know people in Luapula are Lundas like those in North-Western Province. But since he was speaking a language called Bemba, this was taken to be a fight between Tongas and Bembas. This tribal division began to slowly permeate the Bemba speaking (Not Bembas) people. The people who began to champion the tribal war after Chiluba were not even Bembas.

This tribal war was heightened when HH came to take over from UPND. As you recall, the Post Newspaper had desired Sakwiba Sikota to take over the mantle from late Mazoka. When this failed, the Post began to pound HH and UPND and managed to manipulate public oponion in labeling UPND as a tribal Party. There was some element of truth just like the way PF was more of Bemba speaking people. But the Post Newspaper made it more look like there were only Tonga speaking people in the Party, yet the Party had a national character. UPND almost went into oblivion.

When PF came into power they also inherited the tribalism disease. The thing is tribalism kills and destroys. It does not build.

This time around, UPND has resurrected and tribalism will not be a major factor like it did in 2006 and 2011. Those using it now as a campaign strategy will not gain much.
