Miles Sampa adopts dumped baby

Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa has offered to take full responsibility of the needs of the baby which was dumped by its mother in a plastic bag at Chreso Lodge in Lusaka.

Following a news item run on a Lusaka based private Television Muvi, Sampa who is also Matero Parliamentarian in Lusaka decided to visit the baby over the weekend at the country’s biggest hospital, UTH where it is currently being kept.

“I opted to check on his condition over the weekend out of personal curiosity,” Sampa said in a statement today. “I have since offered to be a foster / Godfather to Moses and will ensure that all the needs of the child will be taken care of as my own to the fullest extent.”

The Deputy Minister also explained that he will engage the child’s family and Government agencies to determine an appropriate approach with which to ensure that the child receives full provision to his fullest ability.

“I made this decision during the visit at the Hospital and more so after seeing other children who for one reason or the other have been abandoned by their mothers and families,” he explained.
