Mazabuka civic leader awards scholarships to vulnerable children

Mazabuka Deputy Mayor Chipo Chiiya has awarded scholarships to over 200 pupils from vulnerable households of Kalama ward who mostly in  Primary  and Secondary School in a project which is targeted at sending young people back to school.

Chiiya says the initiative which is aimed at giving children from vulnerable households in the ward an opportunity to education has so far covered three schools with 130 pupils benefiting from the project.

In an interview with Journalists after flagging off the project in Magoye, Chiiya  who is also Kalam ward Councillor said the scholarship covers school fee expenses for 200 students from his ward.

He said that his wish is to have every child in the ward to have access to education amidst hunger and economic hardships facing the people of Kalama ward in Magoye Constituency.

And one of the parents to the beneficiaries, Josephine Maliko thanked the  civic leader for the initiative saying it will go a long way in enhancing the education of their children.

Maliko says the move taken by Chiiya has reduced the burden of paying school fees as parents have no money to pay for their children.
