Manager suspended for not displaying Presidential portrait

Anderson Security Company in Choma District have reportedly suspended their Manager, Katonga Lumbani, after their premises was stormed by Ruling Party Officials for not displaying the Presidential portrait.

On 22nd December, 2022, United Party for National Development (UPND) Southern Province Chairperson, Billard Makwamba, in the company of Choma District Commissioner, Gamela Sikaleya, threatened to close the Security Company for not displaying the Presidential portrait.

A source from the Security Company who asked for anonymity, told Byta FM News that Lumbani was suspended by management for fear that the visit by the UPND officials may dent their standing with the party in power.

The source explains that the likelihood that Lumbani will be reinstated to his position is low.

There is no regulation in the Zambian Law Books that compels any establishment to display the Presidential portrait but the practice has generally been adopted in many public and private institutions.
