Man 36 arrested for attempted murder
Facts of the case are that on 15th May 2015, Sydney Kanyanga aged 36, hit his 6 year old son with a pounding stick on the head which caused him to sustain several head injuries.
Namwala Police and Namwala hospital sources told ZANIS that the boy was admitted to Namwala District hospital and has since been referred to the University Teaching Hospital for specialist treatment.
According to Namwala Police the suspect after realising that he had injured his son he attempted to commit suicide by drinking 20 tablets of anti-retro viral drugs (ARVS) but was quickly served by neighbours when he shouted for help and they managed to resuscitate him at a nearby clinic. The suspect has since been detained at Namwala police and will soon appear before Namwala Magistrate court.
