Majority fail Grade 9 exams

A total of 116,616 candidates out of the 255,449 that sat for the Grade 9 examination have progressed to grade 10, the Ministry of General Education has announced.

PhiriAnd out of all the successful candidates 58, 974 are boys and 57,642 are girls, according to Acting Minister of General Education Elizabeth Phiri.

Announcing the Grade 9 results in Lusaka today, Phiri said the national progression rate to Grade 10 is 45.65 percent from the 52.76 percent recorded in 2017.

Meanwhile Examination Council of Zambia Director Michael Chilala said the 2018 Grade 9 examinations have gone down in history as most challenging due to rampant examination malpractices.
