Lusaka Minister, Bowman Lusambo has apologised to the Pick and Pay Supermarket management in Luanshya for causing a commotion as people mobbed him when he recently visited the branch to buy some mineral water.

This resulted in the shop briefly closing its doors to the public.

He said it was never his intention to attract a huge crowd especially during this period of the pandemic which requires strict adherence to social distancing.

“I wish to render an apology unreservedly to management of Pick N Pay in Luanshya for the disruption to normal business operations that our presence caused on Saturday, September 5th 2020.

“I entered the store together with a few of my team members around 17:30 Hours to buy ourselves some water but we ended up attracting a huge crowd of people wishing to greet us and take selfies with us,” he said.

The situation unfortunately degenerated and forced management to close down the store for about an hour to allow the crowd to disperse.

“As we intensify our mobilisation efforts across the Copperbelt Province, we will continue to control crowds and minimize risks to businesses and public health. We will however do so in a manner that allows us space and time to interact with our passionate supporters,” he added.
