Lusaka FDD call for a convention

Nawakwi confers with President Lungu while Vice president Inonge Wina looks on. Nawakwi is leader of FDD

Forum for Democracy and Development – FDD in Lusaka Province have called on the party’s governing committee,  the National Policy Committee NPC to urgently convene a National Convention.

In a press release made available to Zambian Eye by FDD Lusaka Province Chairman James Musemuna, the FDD Lusaka Province Policy committee has asked for a convention in order for the party to usher in New office bearers to lead the party to 2021.

“FDD Lusaka Province Policy Committee, is calling on the FDD National Policy Committee (NPC) to convene a National Convention to elect New Office bearers to lead the party to the 2021 General Elections.” Musemuna said in a statement.

FDD has been led by Edith Nawakwi after the demise of the founder father  and President Lt Gen Christopher Tembo. Nawakwi has been actively participating in the elections. Nawakwi recently came third in the recently held polls but is rumored to have crossed the line to the ruling patriotic Front, after allegedly accepting to be part of the cabinet. Nawakwi has neither confirmed nor refuted the allegations. On September 13, 2016, Nawakwi was among the dignitaries who attended President Edgar Lungu’s inauguration and later state luncheon at state house.

Meanwhile Musemuna also congratulated Nawakwi for what he termed her hardwork and resilience in coming third among the formidable male candidates

Musemuna also congratulated the only Member of Parliament from FDD, Given Katuka for scooping the Chiengi seat.
