Luo launches National Higher Education Policy

Minister of Higher Education Professor Nkandu Luo has launched National Higher Education Policy.

And Professor Luo says the higher education policy aims at enhancing quality and relevance in the provision of higher education as well as increase access to quality higher education among other things.

She says the policy seeks to enhance equity and inclusion in higher education, enhance efficiency and effectiveness of higher education, promote alternative sources of financing higher education, enhance ethical conduct and discipline for both students and staff in higher learning institutions.

She has called on academicians to have a paradigm shift if the current educational sector can begin to support the growth of all key sectors of national development.

Prof Luo expressed disappointment at the failure by Zambia to turn into reality, plans set in national policies.

She reiterated that mindset change is critical and those tasked with national responsibilities must begin to see to it that policies are being implemented even without supervision of authorities.
