Lungu will lead Zambia into hell – Mwewa

Given five more years, President Edgar Lungu will lead Zambia into hell, Canada based Zambian Political Analyst Charles Mwewa has charged.

And Mwewa has urged Zambians to ensure that opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema is voted into Government.

In an article to Zambian Eye, Mwewa says the poverty levels will be unbearable while corruption will be uncontrollable under President Lungu’s reign beyond 2021.

”Lungu will lead Zambia into hell – unspeakable poverty, uncontrollable corruption and blatant disregard for democratic institutions and traditions,” charges Mwewa who has vowed to return to Zambia to lead movement if Hichilema fails to win 2021 elections.

Mwewa says Hichilema or HH as he is commonly known has what it takes to beat the PF pants down in 2021. He also observes that HH would be a better President than President Lungu.

Zambia: 2021, Elect HH for Good Reasons

African politics, Zambia, included, have two political weaknesses; they attack people and neglect issues, and they are rooted in politics of tribe or clan or race or group synergy. This, however, has also been the weakest link to progress and real development. The result has been electing true dunderhead, riffraff and politically malnutritional idea minds. Each five years, Zambia put a “head” at the helm of the “state.” But this head is as brainless as the uncertain future it espouses. The outcomes have been obvious: More corruption, more poverty and more undemocratic tendencies. The cows become fat, and the rats rot!

In 2021, Zambia should do everything to elect HH. HH is not a saint, and I don’t believe that he is charismatic enough to move millions to elect him. But HH is critically better than Edgar Lungu. For one, Lungu is a president of convenience; you need people like Lungu in power when you run out of ideas or when an incumbent dies without properly naming or grooming a successor. Presidents like Lungu are maintainers; they keep what another has engineered, but they are bad maintainers, too. They tend to worsen the situation than they found it. Given five more years, Lungu will lead Zambia into hell – unspeakable poverty, uncontrollable corruption and blatant disregard for democratic institutions and traditions. He has no gravitas to be a dictator – but he has the wisdom to be a soft one. And that is where the problem lies; he cannot control the minions that galvanize his already confused policies, and he cannot discipline the sycophants. He is left to be a de facto figurehead and an indecisive ruler.

HH, on the other hand, will not be any different from any other presidents before him, but he will be better: He will do less damage in the first five years of his office – because in Zambia, like in Africa, first always wins. He will be fresh, and therefore, he will be more willing to help the people, at least, before he becomes corrupted like any presidents before him. Give him credit – he has endured all, failed many times but he has decided to hang in there. If not for anything, Zambia must not disregard a leader who has endurance. He is better placed to fight corruption, poverty and democratic failures – at least in comparison to President Lungu.

If Zambia gives the PF another five years (it does not make me happy to state the obvious), I will be writing again at this forum of the rampant corruption, poverty and disregard for rule of law that will follow. Lungu and the PF will be emboldened to go full throttle to damage anything and everything in their way. They will get richer (at least PF worshippers) and the people of Zambia will feed on more and more lies, while reaping more poverty and more disillusionment.

To President HH, you must win this next election – if you don’t, you will be responsible for the misery that Zambians will face post-election. Your party, has the necessary structures and peoples to win a substantive election. All you need is a strategy (remember “Don’t Kubeba” for the PF), you can defeat PF at their own game of rigging and corruption. If you fail to win, you will force people like me to leave my comfortable life in Canada and return to Zambia and lead a movement towards zero poverty, zero corruption and zero “undemocracies.”

  2. Ba mwewa do not be emotional just campaign with your mind open. Promising things you cannot do is not right. I challenge you that if HH loses you will just keep quiet and enjoy the life in Canada. It is good to encourage HH to win, but winning is by support of people and if people do not give the man enough what do you want him to do. Fun enough you may not even be holder of a voters card or have no means and passion to travel at own expense. May your idea is for HH to send you money to come and vote for him. Let us pray that there will be votes for people in diaspora. We need your vote and not your emotional outburst.

  3. Mwewa you must know that Zambia is going through problems I just wonder if you are participating in the problem.
If you are concerned about Zambia you cannot say such words as hell as things happen to be at this time you sound like you are at war with Lungu but he is still the president of Zambia if you want to vote for your preferred candidate there is no problem.
You cannot talk of hell in Zambia Zambians deserve some peace, you sound to be one of those people who hate Zambians.

  4. I have noted that a lot of these people don’t understand one thing .HH is not everyone choice.i think majority we don’t fall for HH for some many reasons as evidenced by the way UPND is run as a party. My advice to UPND is go to convention and hold proper elections and if HH is challenged trust me ,there will be change. At the moment there is no hope in Zambia.iam beginning to love DR Nevers Mumba

  5. Not any one who has killed, but some one clean you can be a great business man but very poor with governance like the way HH runs UPND is in point.
I would rather vote for Nevers because he fears God and cannot kill people, as is the case with some ploticians ranning the race.
    Vote for Nevers

  6. Great piece, my brother. Have not seen you in a long time! I agree with what you say. I would like to disagree with you about Lungu. He is not presidential materialin any form. He is the riskiest choise to have come to the presidency–any presidency in the world. And Zambians are paying a huge huge price.
I agree with you that HH is not governance faultless but he is far better than Lungu in method and ethics of work, reflection and potentially, policy-making.In fact, given Lungu’s horrible governance record, I want to believe that any body with a modicum of leadership qualities is far far superior to Lungu.

  7. Mr Mwewa your analysis is too subjective and lack sober mindsetS. You do not even live in Zambia. HH is not a good presidential material for others. Just look at the results of the previous bye-elections. The fact is that Zambia is experiencing economic hardships as at now, but you cannot blame totally on the current leadership. President Lungu still commands countrywide support. Instead, HH only commands three provinces Southern, Western and North-Western. Just wait for 2021, the Zambian people will decide wisely.

      • People you are missing the point. The issue is about is Zambia being in shambles economically…its not about the votes. This great country has been destroyed na ba pf and Lungu period.Only a fool used to suffering can say all is well.I understand Mwewa very well and he has a point. We have travelled “some of us” we know how people are living out there…Zambian is a country being led by the blind with majority who happens to be blind followers…

        February 28, 2020 at 11:02 am

        • Ba musonda, yes Lungu is blind and leading us the blind who happen to be the majority even if we are beating your team by 100000 votes. Please take heart otherwise high court and constitutional court will not vote for you. Instead of insulting us, you are better off reflecting. We are blind but we can smell your coffee with HH and unfortunately you may kiss dust again. You need to change the way you perceive others to win them to your side.

  8. You can say what your mind convinced you to say or how you look at things in the nation but what remains is for electorate to decide .
You cannot drag people in that direction they don’t want.
Democracy means people choose whomever they want and not one man chosen by one intelligent character.

    February 28, 2020 at 3:29 pm

  9. Though Iam not a politician, one thing I do know in a democracy people must be able to accept defeat in elections if they don’t attract enough votes because that is the game.
Characters who feel they should win at all costs they tend to become dictators some the qualities seen in some politicians and because of this people cannot give them chance.
People want good people and not cruel individuals and selfish being who think of nobody but themselves alone.
