Following widespread discontent at the recently-announced maize floor price, President Edgar Lungu now says he will ask the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to adjust upward the maize floor price.

The Head of State says the K65 maize floor price announced by FRA is not fair and that it will not benefit the farmers.

He says government may not have money, but that it is important to support farmers in order for them to continue with production.

President Lungu said this during a political rally in Chipangali district when he was drumming up support for PF candidate Million Tembo.

He says that if farmers are not supported, the country will not have food.

President Lungu says government is committed to providing affordable mealie meal to the people.

The head of state has assured farmers that the maize floor price will be adjusted upward.
