President Edgar Lungu has with immediate effect revoked the appointment of George Same as chairperson of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) Governing Board a day after appointing him.

In his letter to Siame, President Lungu said: “I am hereby revoking this appointment with immediate effect. I thank you and I wish you God’s blessings in your future endeavors.”

The head of state has not given reasons for his decision but Zambian Eye understands that it has to do with Siame’s tainted professional history.

Siame was fired twice from the Zambia Revenue Authority between 2010 and 2014, where he had served as assistant commissioner for customs and director of investigations. He was first fired for assaulting a female co-worker and then for corrupt practices.
