lungu in mansaRepublican president Edgar Lungu has reopened Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe, nine years after the firm ceased operations due to operational challenges

And Lungu has disclosed that government will invest US$15 million in reestablishing the factory.

The President says the textile factory will create over 20 thousand jobs in the next five years.

President Lungu says the reopening of Mulungushi Textiles will help boost the cotton industry and increase exports.

The President further says government has embarked on a programm of industrialising the country to boost the manufacturing sector.

However, a cross section of society has questioned why the government is in a haste to open the company when it has not properly put in place all considerations.

Zambia goes to the polls 10 days from now and the PF government is facing a tough challenge in UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema.

Zambians are looking forward to seeing if the reopening of the company is not just a gimmick to advance political interests.
