Lungu reacts to FIC: Provide evidence to law enforcement, don’t speculate

President Edgar Lungu has told those asking for government officials to be probed for corruption to provide evidence to law enforcement agencies and stop the speculation.

President Lungu was speaking to journalists at the airport in Lusaka on June 5, upon arrival from a two-day working visit on the Copperbelt.

Asked if he would fire those implicated in the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC), President Lungu said the report is highly speculative and urged anyone alleging corruption to go and prove it to law enforcement agencies.

The head of state said  he will not be swayed into commenting on the latest Report on grounds that it has speculations surrounding it. He said while he has received and read the report, he is disappointed that there is a lot of speculation on who has been cited in the report.

The President says as far as he is concerned no one has been mentioned in the report and has further called on the FIC to report those found wanting to the enforcement agencies and the Zambia Revenue Authority for action.

The President said that if cases cited in the intelligence Report are related to corruption, money laundering, relevant institutions should take interest in probing such.
