Lungu not serious about ending violence – HH

FB_IMG_1468617382400UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has accused President Edgar Lungu and his government of not doing enough to end political violence in the country.

Speaking to journalists in Lusaka this afternoon, shortly after attending an ECZ convened meeting on peace, Hichilema said that President Edgar Lungu and his administration have not acted responsibly to end violence.

Hichilema stressed the need for all political players to uphold peace and denounce violence in the strongest terms. He called on the President to get serious about addressing the escalating violence in the country by ensuring all citizens are offered the protection of the law and law enforcement officials, regardless of their political affiliation, and that criminals face justice for their offenses.

A peace accord was proposed during the meeting, similar to the one previously signed during the Church convened political parties Indaba earlier in the year.

Hichilema stated that in order to make sure this accord has more weight than the last document, which was quickly cast aside by the PF, the new accord must specify the rights and obligations to be safe-guarded under the arrangement, including freedom of movement and freedom to campaign.

The UPND President further said it is shameful for any sitting President to watch his people being killed by those wearing state-issued uniforms, without being serious about providing answers and overseeing justice.

  1. If him Lungu does not arrest all the calprits who have and were involved in all these violence attrocities then don’t sign the document its a waste of time and energy jst exert yo energy and time to reachout to yo voters. The ECZ is black mailing us coz they know its in their plan.

    • ECZ will be held responsible for allowing PF and Lungu to rig the forth coming elections. They will be accomplices to the violence that might plunge the country into chaos.

PF and Lungu must know that change is inevitable and the more they delay it the deadlier it will become to those resisting it.

All dictators who resisted change ended being worse than beggars and died like pulpers with totally nothing.

Look at Idi Amini, sergeant doh, Mobutu, Ghaddafi, Gbabgbo all ended up troubling situations. All Lungu s relatives and his extended family and those of his stooges will not be spared from the wrath of the people. So Lungu and his criminal supporters should prepare for more trouble ahead

  3. Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema this morning called Police officers manning the Mulungushi International Conference Centre ‘morons and imbeciles’ after they refused his unruly cadres entry into the venue of a meeting that had been called by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

Onlookers were left shocked and in horror as Hichilema went ballistic and demeaned law enforcement officers who were keeping vigil as the function progressed.

The Police Officer had told all party leaders not to come with their cadres because of the nature of the meeting.

PF, FDD, UPP and Rainbow Party Presidential candidates all went in without an escort of party cadres but Hichilema attempted to defy the pattern by going in with cadres bused in from the Southern Province.

An altercation and bitter exchange of words followed, “Do you know who I am you morons? I will fire you if you are playing with me after August” Hichilema thundered before ECZ officials intervened.

    • Is their a province left without hunger? or all you know is that politics is about tribe? Shame. Do you know that as a matter of fact and to narrow it for you, inflation has risen from 7% to 23% in one year and that is under Lungu? Obama laughed it out and said, “I hear there is an African country where inflation has risen from 7% to 23% and that that leader is recontesting….pwahahahahahahaha?

  10. Kampyongo and Amos Malupenga will be charged for treason for scheming to rig the August 11 elections in favour of the failed PF chipantepante govt as unearthed by Open Zambia. This case is definitely coming on their heads.

  11. Interesting!!! While some people mostly in town are complaining about economic hardship, most people rural areas where massive infrastructure is happening they are rejoicing. In rural parts of Zambia people are improving their housing and have improved their crop output because they have disposable income to purchase inputs than ever before. While a few in town are complaining many in rural areas are rejoicing. GRZ continue to empower our relatives in rural areas to ensure equity. Where do you think the harvest we are sharing with our neighbors has come from??
