President Edgar Lungu has appointed four new District Commissioners, (DCs) in Southern Province.

Earlier this week, Byta FM News reported that there were looming dismissals and appointments at District Commissioner level in the province.

The new DCs include Brenda Mwenda for Kalomo, Timothy Siakiziba for Gwembe, Mutinta Musokotwane for Kazungula, Ephraim Mwanjabantu for Siavonga and Munachongo Mutelo for Monze.

Siavonga’s Lovemore Kanyama, Cosmas Chiiba for Kalomo, Pascalina Musokotwane for Kazungula and Gwembe’s Justus Phiri have since been benched.

Provincial Permanent Secretary, Mwangala Liomba also recently confirms with Byta FM News that the changes were expected.

The Constitution of Zambia as amended in 2016 allows the President to appoint persons, including district commissioners.
