Luanshya Mayor wins 100M race

Luanshya Mayor, Nathan Chanda on Saturday morning made a remarkable sprint to win the 100metres CEO/Mayoral race at the 2nd Copperbelt Inter Company Relay (ICR) held at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Mayor Chanda lived up to the favourites tag and saw off competition from Ndola Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Mulenga, who finished second in the three man race.

Ndola Mayor, Amon Chisenga was third as the crowd cheered the trio on the finnish line situated on the West stands.

The Copperbelt ICR is part of the Zambia Amateur Athletic Association’s initiative to raise funds for the development and promotion of athletics in the country and also promoting an integrated approach to health response and wellness.

In another exciting 100m race, ZAAA president Elias Mpondela finished ahead of former 400m Olympic silver medalist, Samuel Matete.
