Lighting kills a 19 year old lady on the Copperbelt

A 19 Year old lady of Kawama West in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt has died after being struck by lightning.

Karen Musonda met her fate yesterday afternoon when she was trying to remove the clothes she had hanged on the line at her house.

The Mafken FM news crew that rushed to the scene managed to interview the Landlord to the deceased Kelvin Mwamba who witnessed Karen’s death.

Mwamba said he too was struck by the lightning as he was drawing water from the well but he survived while Karen fell to the ground.

And Some Neighbors spoken to also said they were notified of Karen’s condition by her landlord upon which they tried to resuscitate her but all efforts were in vain.

After efforts to resuscitate her proved futile, Karen was rushed to Kawama West Clinic by her neighbors were she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Karen’s brother in law Christopher Mwewa has described Karen’s death as a shock to the family.

Karen’s body has since been deposited to Kamuchnaga District Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial.

On Tuesday this week, two boys both aged 10 died in Simaubi, Mbabala in Choma district of Southern Province after being struck by lightning as they were playing outside their house.

The two children from the same family were playing in the rains when they mate their fate .
