Lebanese Association donates wheelchairs worth K100,000 to MoH

Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has thanked the Lebanese Cultural Association of Zambia for the donation of 25 wheelchairs valued at a total cost of K100, 000 to the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Chilufya said the gesture comes at a critical time when President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu is persuing an ambitious agenda of Universal Health Coverage for the nation, leaving no one behind.

And Dr. Chilufya said equipment such as Wheelchairs form an integral component of the robust Health systems strengthening program of the Ministry of Health. He said wheelchairs play an important role in the movement of patients and in service delivery in health institutions.

He stated that Partnerships with Philanthropic Organizations that promote the health of the Zambian People would continue to be encouraged by the President and the health sector in the nation. He further called on other organisations to benchmark the Lebanese Cultural Association.

The Minister indicated that the wheelchairs would immediately be handed over to the University Teaching Hospital, UTH.

And Lebanese Cultural Association Chairman Mohamad Ahmad said his organisation was very passionate about contributing to the broad agenda of improving the livelihood of people in the nation.

He said as good cooperate citizens, it was their pleasure to contribute to the health sector by donating the wheel chairs and assured the Minister of Health of continued support towards the health systems strengthening agenda.
