LAZ to represent Political violence victims for free

The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has pledged to offer free legal services to victims of political violence.

LAZ Honourary Secretary, Linda Kasonde said the Association will also work with the Police and the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in fighting violence.

Kasonde said LAZ will support victims of  violence which she observed is increasing. She said in a statement on Monday that the country has seen a number of violence perpetrated by the Patriotic Front (PF) on people who are seen having differing opinion.

She said violence has no place in the Zambian society which is known to be peaceful. She added that the country’s image of being peaceful is now at stake with reports of violence pronouncements.

The country has in the recent months experienced a number of politically motivated attacks by PF cadres on citizens with different views to those of government.
