The South African courts have ruled in favor of the Zambian government on the repatriation of ECL’s body, dismissing the appeal with costs.
Apparently, Sikaile Sikaile, Good Governance and Human Rights Activist, has accused lawyer Makebi Zulu, of having been unfair to the former First Family by failing to give them the truth.
Sikaile says instead of guiding them with sound legal advice, Zulu pushed them into emotional decisions.
“As a learned counsel, you should have been the first to help them reason with the law rather than play on their emotions.
“Makebi Zulu, you know very well that even diplomatically, the South African government could never accommodate your schemes.
“You are fully aware of the precedent set in the KK case. A real lawyer gives clients the truth showing them both the strengths and weaknesses of their case. But instead, you chose to mislead the former First Family with false hope,” he said.
He adds: “You know ECL was not an ordinary citizen; he was a former Head of State. Public interest overrides everything in this matter.
“No matter how many appeals you file, the truth is right in front of you: the law and reality cannot be twisted to suit your political games.
“You know very well that even a million appeals would not have swayed the South African courts.
“Yet you chose to play politics instead of being honest. Be fair to the former First Family tell them the truth.
“Moral lesson: fellow countrymen and women, when you see aging people in your family, don’t rush to call them mfwiti mfwiti! You need these people for their wisdom in such crucial moments.
“It is sad that no elderly person has shown up in the ECL family only bitter, politically inclined individuals who have taken advantage of the situation.
“All the ECL family needed to resolve this matter was not a lawyer, but wisdom, period.
“I pray that God opens their eyes and speaks to them in his own best way to choose peace, love and unity.”
