And the the three church mother bodies have described the December 28 consultative meeting with political party leaders held at Kapingila House in Lusaka as a success.

According to a communique issued by the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ), Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), the date for the national dialogue and reconciliation process was changed so as to allow political parties to adequately prepare for the dialogue meeting.

The church mother bodies has since appealed to citizens, political leaders and their general membership to observe the set date and attend this important event.

On the December 28 consultative meeting that was shunned by the ruling PF and the ZCID, the three church mother bodies said: “We are delighted to inform the nation that the consultative meeting of the three Church Mother Bodies and Political Party Presidents on the National Dialogue process was successfully held at Kapingila House in Kabulonga on Friday afternoon.”

A total of 23 political parties attended the meeting where various national issues were tabled. The three church mother bodies revealed that the submissions which political leaders made to the church were constructive and encouraging.

The three church mother bodies, however, regretted that President Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front (PF) and other political parties did not turn up for the dialogue meeting.

The church mother bodies explained that the Head of State failed to show up for the meeting as State House did not receive the confirmation of the meeting on time.
