Expectant mothers in Chief Chona’s jurisdiction, Monze District in Southern Province, are said to be giving birth on their way to nearest clinic owing to lack of bridges.
Village head Paul Namwalinda said pupils and expectant mothers are finding it hard to access basic services on the other side of the river owing to lack of a bridge.
He said whenever it rains, the streams and get flooded, cutting the link to the other side where there are schools and clinics servicing the area.
Namwalinda urged the government to solve the problem as a matter of urgency, saying it has caused high maternal deaths and drop outs from school. -Ask Muvi TV
