KCM liquidation must be handled well, it may backfire – Msoni

Opposition All People’s Congress (APC) leader Nason Msoni has advised government to tread carefully as the decision to liquidate Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) may backfire.

According to a Press Statement made available by Msoni, the APC leader says the responsibility for a liquidator is too huge and a team must be put forward in helping with the process.

“We think that the responsibility for the liquidator is far too huge for a single player to manage prudently thereby putting the entire process into jeopardy. In a nutshell the KCM saga could well be the Achilles heel for the PF government or its downfall. Our unsolicited counsel is that the scope of participation should be broadened through the inclusion of other players to allow for transparency and accountability,” Msoni said.

“We should all be mindful and very clear that the mismanagement of the KCM liquidation process could backfire and spell doom for the people of Chingola. We should all be mindful that KCM is a lifeline for a huge population on the Copperbelt and potentially could consign a huge population into untold misery and suffering.”
