ZESCO’s Kariba North Bank Power Station Manager Cephas Musaba says the station risks completely shutting down if it continues generating power at the current capacity.

ZNBC reports that Government says it is putting up a number of interventions to address the current power crisis the country is experiencing.

Energy Minister Peter Kapala says the interventions include importation of dǐesël powered generators and expanding Maamba Cøllieries among other interventions.

Kapala adds that government is concerned with the current load shedding situation which has been necessitated by the reduction in water levels at Hydro Power Stations.

The Minister said this when he and his water and sanitation counterpart Mike Mposha toured the Kafue Gorge and Kariba North Power Stations.

Kapala disclosed that the increased load shedding schedule will be reviewed in October with the hope of reducing the hours.

And the Water and Sanitation Minister has called for prudent use of water in the Kafue River.

Mposha said entities such as farmers who abstract water from the river must consider drip irrigation that requires low use of water.
