Kangwa’s Qingdao Hainiu Stumble in Season Opener

Zambian football star Evans Kangwa played the full 90 minutes for his Chinese Super League club Qingdao Hainiu, but his team fell short in a 2-0 defeat against Chengdu Rongcheng in their opening match of the 2024 season. Kangwa, positioned as a winger, was unable to make a significant impact as the home team controlled the game.

Following a 13th place finish last season, Qingdao Hainiu had hoped for a stronger start this year. This early loss serves as a reminder of the improvements needed for Kangwa and his teammates to achieve their season goals.

Last year, Kangwa had a successful individual season, scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist in 22 appearances. He even earned recognition with two inclusions in the Chinese Super League Sofascore Team of the Week. As Qingdao Hainiu looks to bounce back, Kangwa will aim to replicate and improve upon his previous form.
