NDC shadow leader Chishimba Kambwili has visited his party’s national youth chairperson Charles Kabwita who is in police custody in Kitwe on a trumped-up charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The NDC has confirmed the development in a press release made available to Zambian Eye Sunday afternoon.

“National Democratic Congress NDC consultant Dr. Chishimba Kambwili has visited incarcerated NDC National Youth leader Charles Kabwita,” reads the statement issued by the NDC media team. “Mr. Kabwita is currently detained at Nkana East police station in Kitwe.

“Mr. Kabwita has been detained on trumped up charges on instructions from Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo.”

According to the statement, Kambwili arrived at Nkana East police station shortly after 09.00 hours and was immediately ushered to see Kabwita, who is one of the founders of the NDC.

The NDC consultant was accompanied to the police station by NDC Copperbelt spokesperson Allan Chikweke and Sam Kapansa from Lwato ward in Kitwe.

The NDC media team says during his meeting with Kabwita, Kambwili regretted the beating of the NDC youth leader at the hands of PF thugs.

“Dr. Kambwili encouraged the NDC youth leader to remain strong.

“He encouraged Mr Kabwita to put everything in the hands of God saying it is a matter of time saying Zambian’s are waiting patiently to vote out the PF.

“Dr. Kambwili is urging NDC members countrywide to remain united even amidst provocation and intimidation,” reads the statement

  1. What necessitated the “trumped up” charges? Just to say “trumped up” charges and not tell us where all this is coming from is very poor reporting.

  2. Today its Kabwita beatten up and arrested by PF because he was part of them yesterday. Thank God I have never been part of the useless and directionless PF party.
Some people say the PF has changed for the worse since Sata’s demise. I do not know because for me they have been the same since inception. Zambians must understand that we needed HH form as far back as when Levy passed on.
