Kambwili gives Govt 24-hour ultimatum to pay university salaries

National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Chishimba Kambwili has given government a 24-hour ultimatum in which to pay both Copperbelt University and University of Zambia lecturers their delayed salaries for the month of May.

Kambwili says it is disappointing that government has failed to put in place modalities to ensure that the workers are paid on time.

And Kambwili has called for the immediate reopening of the Copperbelt University saying government should listen to the plight of citizens calling for the reopening of the university.

He said this shortly after he appeared in court on 39 counts of being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime

  1. Dr. Kambwili is always wanting to say something even if it does not make sense. On what authority is he giving ultimatums to the Government to pay salaries? Is his ultimatum going to have any impact at all. If the the Government does not meet his ultimatum what is he going to do? Those are the questions. He should just appeal to the Government to pay salaries rather than giving them ultimatums whose impact is almost zero.
