Kambwili faces arrest for racism

Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya says the law will visit Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili for allegedly issuing racist remarks against a construction worker believed to be of Indian origin.

Siliya says Government is aware about the derogatory remarks Kambwili issued to an Indian man who was working on a road in Lusaka’s Munali Township on Monday.

She adds that appropriate measures will be taken against Kambwili. If prosecuted and convicted, Kambwili could be handed a two-year jail sentence.

“There is no room for tribalism nor racism in Zambia. And the law is very clear on the same.
Let’s build Zambia locally and internationally!” Siliya tweeted on Wednesday.

But the Roan lawmaker has denied having issued racist remarks saying he is ready for whatever action that Government will take against him.
