The state has entered a nolle prosequi in the case where NDC consultant Chishimba Kambwili and 15 AVIC International workers were charged with unlawful assembly.
In this matter, it was alleged that Kambwili and 15 others on November 25, in Luanshya, jointly and whilst acting together, unlawfully assembled with intent to carryout some common purpose and did conduct themselves in such a manner as to cause persons in the neighborhood reasonably to fear that they will commit a breach of peace.
But when the matter came up before the Luanshya Magistrate’s Court for commencement of trial today, the state informed the court that the DPP had decided to enter a nolle.
Ndola Principal Resident magistrate Obister Musukwa then discontinued the case.
And Kambwili, who is former Roan Member of Parliament, says he is happy that the young people he was charged with are free but regrets that they have been fired by Aviv International.
“The case where President Lungu ordered for my arrest alongside the 15 AVIC international workers from roan constituency that came to my home to complain about poor working conditions,” Kambwili said.
“These roan youths where banged up in the police cells for close to one week all because they came to seek help from their then area MP. The youths have since been fired for associating with me and they are suffering because President Lungu and the PF government want to play politics with people’s livelihoods.
“I am grateful that these young men are now free.”
