Kalu officially out of CAF race

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has officially been verified as the Zambia’s candidate for the CAF Executive Committee position Southern Zone following forms which were filed in by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala a month ago.

Out-going CAF ExCo Member and former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya is not in the running this time around despite having expressed interest after FAZ chose to back Kamanga instead.

Other candidates vying for the seat are Sobha Samier (Mauritius), Bomber Mthetwa (eSwatini), Elvis Chetty (Seychelles) and Felton Kamambo (Zimbabwe).

Kamanga will now have to beat these candidates to join the CAF elite club. The candidate with the most votes wins.

The Kalusha and Kamanga rivalry has been highly divisive of the Zambian game with their supporters vigorously fighting each other.

  1. Realistically, Kamanga has fewer possibilities of defeating the other non Zambians. End result, a zambialess CAF. This is where, patriotism over ego/vendetta was supposed to be played. I really hope against that a Zambian will be on the CAF. Let’s learn to be patriotic!
